Kalona
Known as the "Quilt Capital of Iowa" just 20 miles south of Iowa City on Highway 1. Kalona is the largest Amish settlement west of the Mississippi. West Branch
Just 15 minutes east of Iowa City on the historic Herbert Hoover Highway and Interstate 80, the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site and Presidential Library/Museum top the list of things to do in West Branch. The Herbert Hoover National Historic Site offers several indoor and outdoor sites. Visit the outstanding changing exhibits in the library/museum, the birthplace cottage, a blacksmith shop and a Quaker meeting house. In the 186-acre park, visit the hillside graves of President and Mrs. Hoover and walk the natural prairie trails bordering the site. Open 9am-5pm daily.
